Monitoring and Evaluation Internship

Qualifications
This internship is designed specifically for MBA students or industry professionals with an interest in international development and affairs. It offers candidates unique on the ground experience in the development field. Strong qualitative skills are required. Proficiency in English and Spanish is essential. Familiarity with the Impact Reporting & Investment Standards (IRIS) and Salesforce are preferred. Experience in Latin America and/or working in a rural setting is a plus.

Current Status of Research
This is a new project for Fundación Runa, recently identified as a pressing issue. We recently hired a director of monitoring and evaluation and are in the process of revising indicators and data collection methodologies.

Intern Duties
  • Field research through accompanying field technicians and harvesting/planting guayusa with farmers
  • Develop methodology for gathering data
  • Analyzing results and create reports
  • Create and develop surveys
  • Research into survey techniques and impact reporting
Description
Interns on our monitoring and evaluation team will work towards developing a monitoring system to measure and analyse the environmental, social and economic benefits that indigenous farmers and surrounding communities receive as a result of working with Runa. Interns will work with our director of monitoring and evaluation and local field team to create and test surveys measuring impact on farmers and the environment, and then analyze the results.

Project Objectives
  • Create surveys to collect new social and environmental indicators
  • Evaluate and streamline current surveys and methodologies
  • Test the surveys in indigenous communities with guayusa producers
  • Analyze results and create reports summarizing benefits and impact on farmer
